STRAY INDIA TRUST (Regd), registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, is a Karnataka-based charitable trust with a purpose that reaches beyond any one species.

Our focus is the welfare of stray animals and domestic birds in India: rescue, veterinary care, rehabilitation, responsible adoption and a better understanding of how to live alongside them.

Dogs and cats. Abandoned cattle and equines. Other domestic animals and birds. Their needs differ; our commitment to compassionate care remains the same.

Chelsea Ann Scolt

Founder Trustee

For Chelsea Ann Scolt, the COVID-19 pandemic marked a turning point in how she thought about animal welfare. It brought a renewed understanding of the importance of feeding stray animals and responding when they need rescue — and of the consistent care behind both.

That shift in perspective helped shape her commitment to animal feeding and rescue. It is a commitment she brings to her role as a Founder Trustee of STRAY INDIA TRUST (Regd), registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882: making compassion part of everyday life and encouraging others to take part.

Vittal Ramakrishna

Founder Trustee

Vittal Ramakrishna’s journey in animal welfare began in childhood, volunteering with a long-established animal welfare NGO. That early involvement grew into a wider path of animal rescues, work on feeder harassment cases, adoption camps and policy consulting.

His experience spans direct care for animals, support for the people who feed them, and the policies that shape their welfare. As a Founder Trustee of STRAY INDIA TRUST (Regd), registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, he brings these perspectives together in the trust’s work for stray animals and birds.
